It is our pleasure to announce the first annual contest of the NRDC International ECO-Awards.

Whether it's beautiful images of rolling fields, rich forests, jagged mountains and wild oceans, or promotional campaigns encouraging people to recycle, appreciation of the environment has permeated our culture and our economy.

We believe that those who do the best job of promoting environmental advertising and appreciation should be rewarded for their talent, creativity and integrity.

That's what the ECO-Awards do. And by entering, you will not only have the opportunity to receive recognition for outstanding work - you will also be furthering
pro-environment messages and themes.

We are delighted that this new award contest will be chaired by acclaimed film producer and director Rob Reiner and attorney Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and proud that we have assembled a diverse group of leaders in the environmental and communications fields to judge the 1996 ECO-Awards. People like Alan Carroll of National Geographic Society, Carl Pope of The Sierra Club, and Andrew Goodman of Environmental Media Association.

That's a sign that this contest is one that matters. And that an "ECO"will be an award to cherish.

Feel free to enter as many of your products and services appropriate to the award categories as
you like. We look forward to reviewing your entry and wish you the best of luck in this exciting and innovative new contest.

Sincerely,

John Adams, Executive Director, NRDC

Charles Fluwood, Director of Communications, NRDC
