All forms of published and unpublished illustration by American and Canadian illustrators executed or published between January 1, 1996 and March 14, 1997.

Any work published by an American or Canadian publication between January 1, 1996 and March 14, 1997.

Complete books in proof or final form to be published by October 1997.

$25 for each illustration
$75 for a complete published book, catalog, annual report, calendar or video
$75 for an editorial sequence of more than three illustrations
$60 for 10 submissions by an individual student (proof of enrollment required)

Entry fees are non-refundable. Each accepted piece will be subject to a $95 publication fee. Canadian entrants should submit all fees in US dollar money orders.

1. Complete section one of the entry form.
2. Make a photocopy of section one and two for each piece being submitted, then make two photocopies.
3. Complete section two of the photocopied entry form for each piece being submitted.
4. Tape sections one and two to the back of each piece. Section three of the photocopy may be cut off and discarded. If entering a sequence, number each piece, one of six, two of six etc.
5. Now complete and sign section three of original entry form and mail with your submissions and check or money order mad payable to AMERICAN ILLUSTRATION. Do not cut original entry form.

Entries may be submitted in original published form or as prints, transparencies, 35mm slides (mark top and front), tearsheets or proofs.

Posters larger than 20"x30" should be submitted as transparencies.

Submit each video on a separate half inch VHS video cassette.

Computer generated material are acceptable in printed or transparency form only.

Entries can be returned only if the "return box" on the entry form is circled and self-addressed, stamped envelope is included. Entries may also be pick-up in our office. Requests will be honored only for transparencies and original prints. Tearsheets and other printed material can not be returned or picked-up. There is a $5 handling charge for the return of entries. If you do not check the return box your materials will be discarded after May 30, 1997.

1. EDITORIAL: Features on any subject, such as newS, current events, sports, fashion, beauty,food, and home design for magazines, newspapers and supplements and other periodicals of any type.

2. BOOKS: Covers and inside illustrations for fiction and non-fiction books, including technical books.

3. ADVERTISING: Illustration used for ads in consumer, trade and professional magazines, newspapers or other periodicals.

4. POSTERS: All posters including consumer products and institutional (theater, exhibition, etc.).

5. GRAPHICS: All forms of designed material for brochures, annual reports, catalogs, direct mail, cards, calendars, CD covers, point-of-sale or merchandising (including self-promotional material).

6. ILLUSTRATED MAPS & CHARTS

7.UNPUBLISHED ILLUSTRATIONS: Unpublished, personal or experimental work of professionals and amateurs.

8.TELEVISION & FILM ANIMATION: Feature films, television commercial, documentaries, music videos.

9. COMPUTER MEDIA: Illustrations used in CD-ROMs, Web Sites and other computer media, whether created digitally or in film.

10. STUDENT ILLUSTRATIONS.

Selected work will be presented in the prestigious AMERICAN ILLUSTRATION Annual to be published in November 1997.
